NasdaqInformation TechnologySemiconductors & Semiconductor Equipment

Broadcom Inc., a Delaware corporation with over 60 years of history rooted in AT&T/Bell Labs, Lucent, and Hewlett-Packard, is a global technology leader in semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, shaped by acquisitions including LSI, Broadcom Corporation, Brocade, CA Inc., Symantec Enterprise Security, and VMware. The company designs, develops, and supplies complex digital and mixed-signal semiconductor devices, III-V based products, network interface cards, switches, and racks used across AI and enterprise data centers, servers, networking equipment, storage systems, broadband access, wireless devices, telecommunications, and industrial applications. Its semiconductor business spans five end markets—Networking Connectivity, Wireless Device Connectivity, Servers and Storage Systems, Broadband, and Industrial—with key offerings including custom ASICs/XPUs, Ethernet switching and routing silicon, NIC controllers, PHYs, fiber optic components, RF front-end modules, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chips, PCIe switches, SAS/RAID controllers, and HDD/SSD solutions, increasingly supporting AI data center infrastructure for hyperscalers and AI frontier model companies.

Broadcom's infrastructure software segment, anchored by VMware, CA, and Symantec Enterprise Security, serves most Fortune 500 companies and government agencies through five portfolios: Private Cloud (including VMware Cloud Foundation), Mainframe Software, Cybersecurity (Symantec and Carbon Black), Enterprise Software, and FC SAN Management, enabling customers to modernize, secure, and manage hybrid and private cloud environments. The company sells through direct sales, distributors, and channel partners, with distributors accounting for 48% of fiscal 2025 net revenue and the top five end customers representing approximately 40%, resulting in significant customer concentration risk. Broadcom outsources the majority of its semiconductor manufacturing to third-party foundries and contract manufacturers, including TSMC, while maintaining internal fabrication in the U.S. and Singapore for proprietary technologies like FBAR filters and III-V lasers; its primary warehouse is located in Malaysia.

As of November 2, 2025, the company held approximately 19,000 patents and 2,170 pending applications, and employed approximately 33,000 people worldwide (57% in R&D roles), with 49% based in North America, 36% in Asia, and 15% in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The company operates in highly competitive and consolidating markets for both semiconductors and infrastructure software, and is subject to extensive environmental, health, safety, and import/export regulations globally. As of May 2, 2025, the aggregate market value of common equity held by non-affiliates was approximately $939.2 billion, and as of November 28, 2025, there were 4,741,273,799 shares of common stock outstanding.
