Aptiv PLC is a global technology company focused on making the world safer, greener, and more connected, delivering end-to-end mobility solutions that support the automotive industry's transition to electrified, software-defined vehicles. In December 2024, the company completed a corporate reorganization in which Old Aptiv (a Jersey-incorporated, Irish tax-resident public limited company) was reorganized under a new Jersey parent, Aptiv Holdings Limited, which is Swiss tax-resident and was renamed Aptiv PLC; shares continue trading on the NYSE under "APTV," and there were no material changes to operations or governance. The company designs and manufactures vehicle components and provides electrical, electronic, and active safety technologies to the global automotive and commercial vehicle markets, operating through two segments: Advanced Safety and User Experience (covering Active Safety, User Experience, and Smart Vehicle Compute and Software) and Signal and Power Solutions (covering Engineered Components Group and Electrical Distribution Systems, the latter representing about 42% of 2024 revenue).

On January 22, 2025, Aptiv announced plans to spin off its Electrical Distribution Systems business in a tax-free transaction expected to close by March 31, 2026. Aptiv serves the 25 largest automotive OEMs globally, with no single customer exceeding 10% of net sales and its top ten customers comprising about 55% of 2024 net sales; 29% of 2024 net sales came from Asia Pacific. The company operates 140 major manufacturing facilities and 11 technical centers across 49 countries, employing roughly 141,000 people (31,000 salaried, 110,000 hourly) plus a contingent workforce of about 50,000, with workforce concentrations in Mexico, Morocco, Serbia, China, and India.

Aptiv's strategy centers on three "mega-trends"—Safe, Green, and Connected—driving demand for advanced driver-assistance systems, electrification technologies, and vehicle connectivity/software solutions, including autonomous driving and cloud-native software platforms. Key acquisitions and partnerships include Wind River Systems (2022), a leader in intelligent-edge software, and Motional, a joint venture with Hyundai for autonomous driving technology; in 2024, Aptiv restructured its Motional stake from 50% to approximately 15%, recording a gain of about $641 million while eliminating future funding obligations. The company faces competition from firms such as Amphenol, Lear, TE Connectivity, Yazaki, Bosch, Continental, Denso, Magna, Valeo, and ZF Friedrichshafen, among others, and operates in an industry facing raw material cost volatility (notably copper and resins), regulatory pressures on emissions and safety, and evolving OEM sourcing practices favoring global-scale suppliers.

Aptiv has also outlined sustainability commitments, including a science-based target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, 100% renewable electricity sourcing by 2030, and various waste and water reduction goals, alongside ongoing workplace safety, diversity, and employee development initiatives.
