NYSEMaterialsPaper & Forest Products

Smurfit Westrock, formed in July 2024 through the strategic combination of Smurfit Kappa Group and WestRock Company, is a global leader in sustainable, paper-based packaging, incorporated in Ireland and dual-listed on the NYSE and London Stock Exchange. The company operates a vertically integrated system that converts raw materials of wood or recovered fiber into various grades of board, which are then manufactured into packaging products. Its main product categories include containerboard and corrugated packaging (linerboard and medium converted into corrugated sheets and containers used for protective packaging in food, health and beauty, and industrial applications, as well as retail displays); paperboard and consumer packaging (folding cartons, carriers, inserts, labels, rigid packaging, transaction cards, and healthcare packaging serving industries such as food, beverages, dairy, confectionery, and pharmaceuticals); solidboard and solidboard packaging (used for demanding, moisture- and cold-resistant applications like transporting fresh produce and perishables); graphic board (used in book covers, game boards, and similar applications); kraft paper and paper sacks (used for industrial bags, agriculture, chemicals, and retail carrier bags); and bag-in-box packaging for liquids.

The company maintains operations in 40 countries, with a primary footprint in North America, Latin America, and Europe, and additional presence in Asia, Africa, and Australia, operating 57 paper mills, 450 converting plants, 70 recovered fiber facilities, forestry and wood procurement operations, and approximately 308,000 acres of forests and plantations, mostly in Latin America. The business is organized into three reportable segments: North America (U.S., Canada, and Mexico), which also produces paperboard, kraft paper, market pulp, and other paper-based packaging and display assembly; Europe, Middle East and Africa (MEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC), which also produces solidboard, graphic board, kraft paper, honeycomb, and bag-in-box packaging; and Latin America (LATAM), which also includes forestry operations and production of paperboard, kraft paper, folding cartons, and paper sacks. Each segment is highly integrated, with mills and converting plants producing containerboard used internally or sold to third parties, serving a broad customer base across consumer, industrial, retail, healthcare, and commercial markets worldwide.
