Per Share

What is Diluted EPS?

Profit per share counting all shares that could exist if options and convertibles were exercised.

How it is calculated

Net income divided by diluted weighted average shares.

How to read it

The EPS figure to use. Growth in diluted EPS faster than net income means the share count is shrinking.

Keep in mind

Per-share figures are as reported in each filing and are not adjusted for later stock splits, so values before a split look larger.

Where the numbers come from

Scrutar computes Diluted EPS from the figures each company reports to the SEC in its annual and quarterly filings, using the XBRL data attached to those filings.
